Now 50 years old, John Osbourne's play no longer possesses the shocking newness that made it such a huge influence on British theatre. Audiences must be prepared to face nearly two hours in the company of Jimmy Porter, a self-pitying bully (played energetically by Aaron Alexander). Mia Blake, who plays Jimmy's long-suffering wife, is outstanding. Not an easy play, but deeply rewarding.

A whopping great cast headed by Jennifer Ward-Lealand, Oliver Driver, Tandi Wright and Paolo Rotondo sees director Michael Hurst place Shakespeare's romantic comedy in a "romantic tropical island getaway" as the characters struggle against confusion and cross-dressing to find true love. "If music be the food of love" let this play on for you.
