"Polar!" shouted Abbi. "Polar!" she ran to the farmyard gate.

"Leave him," said Justin.

"He'll come back," said Rory.

But Polar didn't come back. Abbi, Justin and Rory stood at the gate as the snow swirled faster. Now the wind was howling across the moor.

"Polar!" shouted Abbi.

Justin pointed a gloved finger at his animal-crazy sister. "It was you who let him go, Abbi," he said crossly.

"I couldn't help it," protested Abbi.

"Polar just broke away ..."

"... and now he's gone," said Rory. "We'll never find him in this - this blizzard."

Abbi felt frantic. "I've got to find him," she said, and she ran onto the moor. Like her puppy, she quickly vanished in the swirling snow.
