In the pursuit of eternal youth and better health, celebrities seem to turn to many a bizarre and expensive beauty treatment.
Following Sonny Bill William's cupping treatment which he shared with his Twitter followers on Wednesday, we take a look at six of the weirdest ways famous faces try to maintain their youthful looks.
More appealingly known as 'Nightingale' or 'Geisha' facials, Victoria Beckham favours a method for anti-ageing which uses the droppings from a rare breed of bird native to the Japanese island of Kyushu.
The birds are fed a special diet of seeds and berries to create a vegan product, and their droppings are sanitised and dehydrated before being applied to the face.
Said to stimulate collagen levels and elastin growth, Kim's treatment involves extracting blood from the patient's arm and removing the platelets. The remaining liquid is then splattered on the face with acupuncture needles.
3. Katie Holmes: Snail slime moisturiser
Holmes has a penchant for facial creams containing snail slime extract to keep her skin radiant.
While its main use is to treat acne, snail mucus is also believed to reduce pigmentation and scarring and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
4. Snookie: Kitty litter exfoliant
Nicole 'Snookie' Polizzi, despite her star status, keeps her beauty regime simple. The former Jersey Shore star has revealed she uses kitty litter as an exfoliant.
Perhaps the most decadent facial, Bar Refaeli maintains her glowing complexion by covering her face in 24 carat gold liquid combined with caviar ampule, honey and sea buckthorn.
It is said to help with uneven pigmentation, inflammation, bacteria and improve the skin's elasticity.
6. Harry Styles: Sheep placenta facial
Styles is one of many A-listers who love this bizarre treatment. It involves taking the placenta from sheep and flash freezing the stem cells said to be full of nutrients that fight free-radical skin damage.
The cells are combined with a gel containing gold flecks.
