Peter had, quite suddenly, realised he liked girls too. Especially Abigail Applegarth. She was a new girl in his class at Fernridge Intermediate. Abigail Applegarth. Cool name! He liked the cute way she talked. He liked the thick dark ponytail that wriggled down her back. He liked the way her brown eyes flashed when she looked at him. She did look at him sometimes, because she sat directly opposite him in class. Whether she actually noticed him was another matter.He'd tried to make her take notice: walking in front of her, teasing her about her train tracks, and doing ten press-ups right in front of her when she was eating her lunch.
