The Queen, she's just like us: Royal household item upstages Boris Johnson

It's hard to steal the spotlight from Britain's new PM. But the Queen has done it with the help of an accessory found in millions of homes.

She rules a kingdom and lives in a castle, but the Queen continues to prove she's just like us.

Britain's new Prime Minister Boris Johnson swung by Buckingham Palace to get sworn in overnight, but her majesty managed to steal the spotlight off BoJo with an unexpected accessory.

As photos of the meeting made their way around the internet, eagle-eyed readers quickly noticed the presence of a household item found in millions of homes around the world.

Positioned next to the ancient marble fireplace, underneath the zillion dollar artworks and surrounded by several valuable artefacts is an appliance that looks a little out of place. Is it a postmodern sculpture? No. It's a Dyson tower fan. One of those fancy bladeless ones.

The Dyson Hot & Cool Fan Heater costs $743 and, as temperatures soared to 32 degrees in London yesterday, it's not surprising the Queen summoned Camilla to fetch the appliance from the royal storage unit.

Its cheeky presence raises many questions. The major concern we have is regarding the lack of ducted airconditioning in Buckingham Palace. While surprising, we do have to remember it's a palace and not a Westfield and also they probably didn't have reverse cycle back in the Middle Ages when the Queen bought the property off the plan.

It takes a lot to steal the spotlight off BoJo, but the Queen's Dyson did it.

"BREAKING NEWS … Forget the new Prime Minister, the Queen has a Dyson cool fan," read one tweet about the electrical good's cameo.

"I usually enjoy seeing HM The Queen meeting a new PM. However, I was more admiring her choice of Dyson fan. Probably to help clear the mugginess from the room …" observed another royal watcher.

"F**king hell the Queen really is rich. She's got a Dyson fan," came another response.

We all love when the Queen pulls back the velvet curtain to give us a glimpse of her surprisingly relatable lifestyle. The 93-year-old is a classy dame but that doesn't mean she's exempt from back sweat.
