'There's Drevon, about a day's ride south, then another day till you reach Sweetwater.' Jac was sure the man wasn't listening as he stared at them. His horse silently kept pace with the wagon, and a sudden feeling of danger rippled through Jac.

The man gave a brief nod of acknowledgement and slapped his horse cruelly with a leather whip.

'Weird, eh?' Danel pushed his hat onto his head and stared after the rider.

'Just a traveller,' Jac said thoughtfully. It was unlikely the man really wanted directions. If he wasn't from Dwarfland he must have come through the mountain pass, and that lay south of Sweetwater.
