Setting up a profile on a dating app can be a daunting task even for the most self-confident among us.
Should we show the most put together version of ourselves (knowing full well a date would not see us looking that good very often if we went into a relationship)? Or do we go down the more "honest", everyday-look route? And how do you sum up your whole life in that short bio?
A sociologist who worked for Tinder and now works at Bumble has revealed what you should put on your profile and the mistakes you should avoid making.
The most common mistake people make in their dating profile, according to sociologist Dr Jess Carbino, is actually a really simple one: there aren't enough photos of people smiling on their profiles.
"We've been so socialised to believe that this sexy, smoldering look is theoretically appealing because we've watched people in movies and in Calvin Klein ads presenting themselves in this way. But the vast majority of people don't look like people in Calvin Klein ads," she said, according to the Business Insider.
