KEY POINTS:
GUY KREMER
Parisian Guy Kremer works with celebrity designers including Jean Paul Gaultier and Maria Grachvogel, has a private client list that includes the likes of Natasha Bedingfield, Ruby Waxx and Pink Floyd's Roger Waters. Based in South England, Kremer leads a jet-setting lifestyle travelling to seminars and shoots for the likes of Hello and Glamour.
What's the Kremer trademark?
Creating sophistication and ultimate femininity for a woman. To provide a style and colour to the suitability of the look of the person. I am inspired by fashion magazine shoots - to ensure the hair look suits the clothes; fashion week; watching people on the street or in bars; young fashion designers with innovative new looks and style. I breathe, eat, live and sleep hairdressing. It's a passion, it's not work.
Useful tips?
Look at people coming out of a salon you are selecting. Make an appointment for a consultation so you can experience their approach and get a feel for the salon. When it comes to changing your look, it's important to evolve through the ages but not be defined by them - after all the 60s are the new 40s. What is the most important thing is to match your hairstyle to your look and personality. Age is irrelevant, your hair must reflect your style, lifestyle and body shape. The most important thing is that you can carry it off, feel good and not feel out of place.
CATERINA DIBIASE
This multi-award winning hairdresser from Melbourne has been in the industry for more than 24 years and has travelled the world preparing models for magazines shoots and catwalk parades, celebrities for the red carpet, clients for VIP events and international hair seminars.
What's hot now?
Hair is getting shorter - it's all about the haircut and the shape. Line is important and achieved by creating structure with precision cutting. Clothes have also moved in this direction - fashion is very structured with very strong lines coming through now too. What we see in fashion is always reflected in hair.
What keeps you inspired?
Magazines and architecture. I have just returned from India, where I could not help but be overwhelmed by the culture, the colour, the texture and its big warm heart. I take something from all my influences. They combine to give an idea or a feel of where I would like my next look to go. It is the passion and energy that you get from what catches your eye that you bring to your most successful work.
Useful tips?
Always explain to hairdressers what you would like, as we are not mind-readers. We can suggest ideas, but it's best to know the looks you are attracted to. It is essential that you change your hair as you age, to reflect how we all move and change in our lives. Fashion changes! Everyone wants to look younger, so it is important that we keep up with what's happening around us. There is no "perfect" style, just the right style for you. But it needs to have the "feel" that is current, and this can be a subtle shift in line, texture, colour or styling that gives it a modern look.
TERENCE JANSEN VAN VUUREN
The owner of four salons and two hairdressing schools in South Africa, Terence Jansen Van Vuuren regularly features on radio and television and works on fashion shoots for publications such as Elle, Marie Claire and GQ.
What's hot now?
Individualism with clean, simple lines that complement each individual. Fashion is becoming more about individualised, personalised looks and styles, as opposed to cloning a specific look on all clients.
What is the Jansen Van Vuuren trademark?
To always be pushing the envelope and taking risks in terms of new design colour and texture. You should evolve for yourself and your clients. People's needs, fashion and environments change constantly, so we need to be one step ahead.
Useful tips?
Always go with an open mind to a salon and let your stylist guide you and make the hard decisions for you - trust your stylist - do not hesitate to try something new. Most of all, have fun. It's your attitude not your age that dictates how you wear your hair. If you have a fabulous attitude to life it should show through in your hair styling!
