As Natty opened her front door, she could see Mrs Lockgate watching her from behind her gate. Natty waved. Mrs Lockgate shook her head and frowned.
It just wasn't fair. Couldn't Mrs Lockgate see that Prince would never fit between the iron bars of her fence? Prince might be short, but he was not a skinny dog. Still, if it wasn't Prince, that seemed to leave Natty and Thurston as suspects.
It seemed even more unfair when Natty told her mother about it at lunch. Worry lines crossed her mum's forehead.
"Mrs Lockgate range me about it this morning," she said.
Natty groaned to herself.
"We've got good neighbours, Natalie, and we want to get along with them. If we can't get this straightened out, we might have to find another home for Prince.
