By PHILIP TEMPLE, Illustrator CHRIS GASKIN
The noise in the Time of Quarrelling grew so loud that the first thunder echoed across the sky. Black clouds grew from the birds" anger. The birds flew higher and higher among them, squabbling and fighting. The tears from their pain and the blood from their wounds ruined their colourful plumage. And their tears filled the gloomy clouds with the first rain. The rain then began to fall on the torn and battered forest. It washed away the last of the nectar. It spoiled the flowers and rotted the fruit.
