'I won! I won the NZ section, anyway, along with three other kids I haven't met. We're here till Polewind goes belting up into orbit. We might even get to touch the satellite.

Hang on a minute. I need to pinch myself a few times, to check it's really happening.

I arrived at Mt Dauntless by plane and rubbish truck. The plane brought me to Queenstown. A skinny, smiling woman with blonde hair springing up like a solar flare met me in the terminal. `Adam? I'm Sophie. We're out in the carpark.'

The carpark was full of cars with ski racks, plus a van with `MAINLAND MEALS' on its side.`We do the catering,' Sophie told me, as we swung out of the carpark on two wheels, then swung onto the highway on the other two. `And we take their rubbish away. Hope you enjoy this chauffeur-driven ride.
