The cute lass featured on the left of the Soul Bar & Bistro Mother's Day advertising campaign featured in Viva is none other than Soul Bar & Bistro owner, Judith Tabron. The photo was taken in 1964. Gorgeous young Judith was the poster child for Country Style Yoghurt advertising campaign, the very first yoghurt to be launched in New Zealand. Judith's dad, the then-manager for Auckland Milk Corporation, decided that his own Kiwi lass had the right look to sell yoghurt to the nation. "The only problem was" admits Judith, "in those days there was no way I was going to eat yoghurt, so I actually had icecream in the cup!"
The price is right...
It seems to be a growing trend. Last week, Viva reviewed Mango Tango in Herne Bay, where you pay what you think the meal is worth. Now Q Restaurant at the Westin Hotel is offering the same throughout May with its mid-week three-course lunches. Head chef, Murray Wiblin says it's about "empowering customers to decide what they should pay". Normal prices apply to drinks and side dishes. To book a table, phone (09) 909 9038.
