Here at Viva, one of our kitchen favourites is Cathedral Cove macadamia nut sprinkles, the scrummiest thing to crumb freshly-caught fish with. So we were more than delighted when the Cathedral Cove Macadamias Natural Spread came across our desk. It's delicious. Made from 100 per cent macadamia nuts, you can spread it on toast or vegetables, or mix it into salad dressings. $8.50 from Farro Fresh Food Market, 80 Lunn Ave, Mt Wellington, ph (09) 570 7071.
Up the garden path
Prepare to be led into a slightly different world if you wander down to the Viaduct over the next few days. The iconic Soul Bar & Bistro is being transformed into a magical "Garden of Soul". Oh yeah! Internationally-renowned garden designer Xanthe White has created a series of lush, green spaces perfect for supping delicious cocktails and listening to live music. Sounds like the perfect place to make the most of these long balmy nights. Tomorrow evening, from 7pm, the theme is Havana Heaven. Friday has the Garden of Soul grooving late into the night. On Saturday, join in for the Morning Glory High Tea, 11am-4pm, and dress up for the Garden of Good & Evil Masquerade party, which kicks off at 10pm. The weekend rounds off with the Fire and Brimstone Barbecue from 4-7pm on Sunday night. Top marks to Soul's Judith Tabron for having the vision to take the Viaduct to a new level. Say cheese
Those who can't make it to the Cheese Fest can meet the Cuisine Artisan Award winners and taste their products at Farro Fresh tomorrow, from noon-2pm. Master chef and judge Ray McVinnie will also be in store giving a free cooking demonstration using the award winners' products. Farro Fresh, 80 Lunn Ave, Mt Wellington, ph (09) 570 7071.
