The Checks missed the first two dates of the NME New Music Tour in Britain because singer Ed Knowles had a throat infection.
These were the North Shore band's first international shows, and a chance to impress Brit audiences, so you'd think they would have been gutted. But no. Guitarist Sven Petterson told nme.com: "It was a bummer definitely. We were excited to play but, you know, what can you do? That's life."
They missed the opening night in Norwich, and later in Portsmouth, but were back in action by the time the tour reached Hull.
The tour ends in Birmingham on Tuesday.
