By JOY COWLEY
There were lights on the ceiling and a speaker that dribbled out music, nine, clankety-clank, which Todd's dad called canned music, ten, clankety-clank. Todd knew that the music didn't come out of a can. His father meant it was music no one really listened to, eleven, clankety-clank, twelve, clankety-clank, clankety-clank. Now, this was it, floor fourteen!
There was definitely no floor thirteen!
"Why isn't it there?" Todd asked his dad that night.
"Look in the fridge," said Dad, who was cooking spaghetti.
"Not the pasta sauce," said Todd, taking the sauce out of the fridge and putting it on to heat. "I'm talking about this building. Why doesn't it have a thirteenth floor?"
"Superstition," said Dad.
"What?"
