Teen girls vote Sienna Miller most inspirational role model

An agonising year for actress Sienna Miller has ended with her being voted the most inspirational celebrity of 2005 in a poll of teenage girls.

The 23-year-old star of Alfie whose latest role is in the new film, Casanova, had a much publicised break-up with her film star partner Jude Law after he was caught cheating on her with his children's nanny.

Now the two are said to be back together again - although he is spending the Christmas break with his ex-wife Sadie Frost and their three children in Kenya.

During the break-up she continued with her stage role in the West End play, As You Like It, and was said to have flirted with her ex-partner Orlando Bloom and new James Bond star Daniel Craig.

The poll, to be published in the teen magazine Sugar, was designed to find the ten most inspirational girls of 2005.

The teenagers' choices appeared to favour women who had battled through adversity during the year.

Third in the list was ex-Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona who had a traumatic break-up with her boyfriend Dave Cunningham earlier in the year when he ditched her.

The mother of two had been seeking solace after her high profile split with husband Brian McFadden the previous year.

The singer is hoping a new career as an actress gets off the ground in the New Year when a four-part series, Showbands, made by RTE is shown on ITV.

She plays the part of Denise, a cleaner who is plucked from oblivion to become a showband star.

In fourth place was singer Kylie Minogue who has spent most of the year battling with breast cancer.

One reader who voted said of Sienna: "Sienna handled the Jude thing so well and she kept on appearing on stage while her private life was all over the papers."

Annabel Brog, Sugar's editor, added: "Sienna has had some terrible lows this year but she's handled them with style, dignity and strength and our readers respect that.

"Hopefully this award means she'll be finishing the year on a high."

In second place in the survey was singer Gwen Stefani who only last week confirmed rumours that she is pregnant with her first child.

She has been married to Bush guitarist Gavin Rossdale since September 2002.

It is her first child and his second.

Last year's winner of the survey was Jennifer Lopez but she did not figure in the top ten this year.
