Tranquil colours influenced by nature provide a fresh source of inspiration for eyewear this season, with eyewear designers veering away from classic black and gaudy brights. Flora and fauna colours have filtered into a selection of frames for both spectacles and sunglasses this season, from russet tones and earthy greens to sun-kissed gold. The classic tortoiseshell with its mottled brown and yellow effect makes a welcome return, used on retro-inspired wayfarer and cat-eye shapes such as the "Gage" style by emerging local eyewear brand Age eyewear (#3) for both sexes.
A selection of some of Karen Walker's favourite sunglass shapes have been re-imagined in iridescent gold to mark 10 years since the designer launched her eyewear line.
The "Annie" shape, in particular (#2), works well on various face shapes, the gold-tinged frames teaming well with crisp summer whites or pastels.
Vintage-inspired shapes are still an important addition to many eyewear ranges out now, however they've been re-worked into blockish shapes with sharp lines and work well for both men and women. Combined with subtle earthy colours, it's a winning formula in keeping those peepers cool over summer.
