Stemax
PC, $49.95
Review: Peter Eley
One of the first local education titles put out on CD Rom is still going strong four years down the track.
Although Alpha/Beta Maths is essentially the same product, Stemax have reduced the price to $49.95 for a single module, or $89.95 for both. And buyers no longer need to go through the time-consuming process of registering before the software is activated.
Stemax products don't boast too many bells and whistles, but are solid and reflect the New Zealand curriculum faithfully. The CD is based on the text book by maths teacher David Barton, and contains 2000 questions and fully explained answers.
Alpha/Beta Maths is aimed at Form 3 and 4 maths students. Other products for secondary school pupils are also available.
