Student claims Pesci punched him

A college student has filed a police report claiming that American actor Joe Pesci punched him in the mouth after he snapped a photo in a shopping centre parking lot.

The 62-year-old actor, who won an Oscar for his role in 1990's Goodfellas hasn't been charged.

Sergeant Jeff Kelly said police weren't sure if the man who allegedly struck Juan Montenegro was Pesci. Montenegro said he took a picture after the actor refused his requests.

Pesci's credits include My Cousin Vinny, Casino and Raging Bull.
