Oliver Stone's September 11 drama World Trade Centre debuted at number three in the United States box office on the weekend as the Will Ferrell comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby maintained its hold on the top spot
Stone's film, which depicts a true story of the rescue of two New York policemen trapped under the rubble of the two collapsed towers on September 11, 2001, made US$19 million ($30 million) in its first weekend. In second place was the surprising hit dance movie Step Up.
