Another game from the Star Trek assembly line, but Elite Force stands out as an excellent first-person action game.
It could hardly be otherwise because its gameplay is remarkably similar to the groundbreaking Half Life, and the graphics use Quake 3's state-of-the-art engine.
With such a pedigree, it's no surprise that fans of this genre are raving about the game.
What sets Elite Force apart is the way it combines a solid story soaked in Trekkiedom (albeit of the Voyager vintage) with exciting and gripping first-person action.
You play Alexander (or Alexandria) Munro and lots of familiar faces from the TV series are dotted around.
The Klingons and Borgs are there too, and they make formidable foes, especially with the game's impressive artificial intelligence.
As Quake 3 was designed primarily as a multiplayer game, Elite Force scores well in this area, too. But unlike Quake 3, it has lots going for it as an out-and-out single-player game over 30 impressive and different levels.
