As wedding trends lean towards vintage and brides draw inspiration from what their mothers - and their mothers' mothers - wore, the traditional Spanish mantilla veil is proving an elegant option.
Bridal designer Michele Corty says more New Zealand brides are mixing up their wedding outfits by wearing dramatic veils with flowers or headbands - updating a traditional look for modern times.
There is a move away from the usual sculptured bridal hair as well. Fraser Foulagi of Ryder Salon says the trend in bridal hair is a looser, less "done" do. The combination of traditional dress with a modern approach to hair and makeup inspires a dramatic bridal look.
