While you're in Dunedin you can learn about everything southern by taking a walking tour offered by Otago Museum. The Strolling the Streets tour starts in the Southern Land, Southern People Gallery then heads through the streets to the Botanic Gardens for a picnic lunch, passing through the University of Otago. If it's wet, the Hidden Treasures tour is available, which includes a sampling of Central Otago wines. It costs $55, including lunch. Bookings are essential.
