KEY POINTS:
British rockers Snow Patrol are coming to New Zealand for the first time. The band have proved popular here after their fourth album Eyes Open was released this year.
Their profile also grew when their song Chasing Cars was used in the season finale of Grey's Anatomy.
They play the Waitakere Trusts Arena on February 22. It's also a first for the venue - off Lincoln Rd on the Northwestern Motorway - which has never hosted a rock gig, though the more mild-mannered Carole King is there on Saturday.
They won't be the only ones making the long flight here in the new year. Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders last performed in New Zealand in 2004 - and they're back to play the St James, Auckland, on February 5 and the Founders Theatre, Hamilton, on February 6.
Fans can expect to hear their favourites as the tour comes after the release of the Pretenders' first box set, Pirate Radio, this year. Songs like Brass in Pocket, Don't Get Me Wrong and Stop Your Sobbing have stood the test of time for one of the planet's most enduring bands, together for almost 30 years.
