KEY POINTS:
Just when you thought it couldn't get any stranger, Anna Nicole Smith has been accused of dyeing her infant daughter Dannielynn Hope's hair in a bid to make her look more like Howard K. Stern - the man Smith claims is Dannielynn's father.
Debra Opri, attorney for Smith's former boyfriend Larry Birkhead, told Associated Press she believed the platinum-blonde reality star may have darkened her child's hair to look like the raven-headed Stern.
Photojournalist Birkhead, who claims to be the baby's real father, has sandy blonde hair.
"It's horrendous," Opri told Associated Press.
"We are calling our experts right now to see if dyeing an infant's hair is any way toxic or harmful to a child."
Smith's lawyer Ron Rule dismissed the claims, saying they were ridiculous.
Smith has been plagued by controversy and speculation since the birth of her daughter eight weeks ago, three days before the death of her 20-year-old son Daniel.
After initially refusing to name the baby's father, long-time lawyer and confidant, Howard K. Stern claimed he was the father during an interview with CNN's Larry King.
Three days later, the couple cemented their relationship with a commitment ceremony aboard a yacht in the Bahamas.
Birkhead has since filed two law suits against the former Playboy playmate, one demanding Smith return to California to establish paternity of the child, and one in the Bahamas alleging fraud and conspiracy.
Smith, who had obtained permanent residency in the Bahamas, is now under investigation by Government officials after it was revealed the US$1 million residence she was living in did not belong to her.
Property developer and ex-lover Gaither Ben Thompson claimed Smith bought the property from him on credit, but had yet to pay him any money for the mansion estate.
Smith, however, said she believed the house was a gift.
Bahamas' Immigration Director Vernon Burrows told Associated Press last week that the only thing qualifying Smith for residency was the property.
"If that's no longer the case then of course we would probably ask her to show cause why it should not be revoked," said Burrows.
