"Zippedy doo da, we're out of the car" Mum sang, pulling over to the side of the road. "I spy an ice-cream shop."
We left Johnson on guard while we chose triple treats in waffle cones. Con likes to keep everything coordinated, including his colours, so he pointed to Pineapple Crush, Banana Crumble and Honey Crunch. Mum's choice was Rocky Road, Chocolate Ripple and Utterly-Sinful-Chocolate. For me it was a mixture of Licorice Lick, Frosted Allsorts and Green Slime. I'm adventurous.
We sat on a bench in front of the shop and raced the sunshine in a licking competition. It was a tie. Johnson meowed when we gave him the ends of our cones, all slippery slimy with melted ice cream. We washed our chins at the tap beside the shop and dried them on a paper napkin Con happened to have in his pocket."
"Get back on board little children" Mum warbled as we climbed back into the van.
"Mu-um!"
"Well then, what about more of the flying, sailing magic carpet story, Lyndee?"
