How did you get into music?
At the age of 8 became the lead vocalist of the primary school choir.
What are your latest plans?
Just finished my first video for the single Waiting, which features on the new AC hit disc coming out this month thanks to NZ on Air and my management, Ray Columbus Organisation. My debut album is due out this year on Kahu Records. Look forward to touring NZ and overseas lots to promote that.
Tell us about your best recent gig.
Performed with Temuera Morrison at Ericsson Stadium kicking off the opening of the Warriors' game in front of 20,000 people, a highlight so far!
Who do you admire most among the current Pacific musicians and why?
Scribe inspires me.
Are Pacific music and culture recognised enough in New Zealand?
More so now that the young musicians are more mindful and proud of their culture and are expressing it more in their music ... sharing it with the world.
How has Pacific culture influenced your music?
Lots of soul in my music - thanks, Mum, for being Samoan! It's a part of life for them and they always have a guitar at parties. That's how I learned to play guitar and piano ... I've always been fascinated by the sound of a piano.
Would you ever go on NZ Idol?
I've already got a record coming out and a manager ... so I don't qualify!
