A Countdown customer left a store disgusted after discovering a packet of shaved chicken "covered in mould".
The discovery was made by a shopper at Mangere Mall Countdown at 11.30am yesterday.
"My sister and I were walking around the deli area. She tapped my shoulder to show me the packet and I could see it was covered in mould. The whole lot was green, it was disgusting.
"I took it to the counter and gave it to the checkout lady, she was shocked. She thanked me and called her supervisor," the woman told the Herald.
The Countdown supervisor said the store was taking measures to ensure the incident did not repeat itself.
"The checkout operator showed me and then we informed the department manager straight away," the supervisor said.
"We talked in detail about it and we are definitely going to do something about it."
