The UK terror threat is now classed as severe, so the Metropolitan Police appear to be taking no chances with the safety of the six-months pregnant Duchess of Cambridge.
Her Scotland Yard bodyguards were seen wearing stun guns for the first time in addition to carrying conventional firearms as she met foster carers in Islington, North London.
There also appeared to be more back-up officers and police outriders accompanying 33-year-old Kate.
The increased security surrounding the Duchess is said to follow security alerts involving the royal family.
