Christchurch hip-hop singer-songwriter Scribe has set a second New Zealand music chart record in the space of a fortnight.
His track Stand Up/Not Many is at No 1 again this week in the singles charts - the 10th week it has spent at number one.
The Recording Industry Association (Rianz) today said the achievement was a record for a local artist.
It beat the nine weeks set by All Of Us in 1986 with Sailing Away, a song inspired by New Zealand's first America's Cup yachting campaign in Fremantle.
Late last month, Scribe occupied No 1 in both the album and single charts in the same week, a first for a New Zealand artist since the local music industry began keeping records in 1975.
Stand Up/Not Many has been in the Top 50 singles list for 16 weeks. The Crusader, Scribe's debut album, stayed in top spot for a week.
Rianz releases weekly charts based on record sales and radio play.
