A Scribe and Brooke Fraser duet is a record company dream come true. They're doing one - only it's in a good cause. The two stars, both semi-permanent residents of the New Zealand charts, will perform Scribe's song Dreaming at a charity event for the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre at the Auckland Town Hall on Tuesday.
The auction and dinner also includes performances by Bic Runga, Adeaze and Nesian Mystik.
The purpose of the auction is to raise money to ensure the ongoing running and development of the centre. Says co-founder and entertainer Hinewehi Mohi: "Despite the payment of fees, as well as generous support from the music industry and local businesses, we need further assistance to maintain and grow the centre."
The music memorabilia in the auction includes handwritten lyrics to the Dance Exponent's classic, Victoria (written on the notepaper of the Greerton Motor Inn where Jordan Luck was staying when he composed the song), a surfboard signed by the Beach Boys and a guitar signed by Chrissie Hynde.
Other items up for sale include a Lord of the Rings music score signed by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Howard Shore; an acoustic guitar signed by Bic and Boh Runga; a corporate booth at the Big Day Out 2005; and a coffee date with Carlos Spencer.
