Scottish actor wins Narnia role

Scottish actor James McAvoy, 25, has been cast to play Mr Tumnus the faun in The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, according to Variety.com.

Mr Tumnus is the first character encountered by the four children after they pass through the magic wardrobe into Narnia. He initially befriends youngest sister Lucy with the intention of betraying them.

The Walden Media/ Disney co-production, to be directed by New Zealander Andrew Admanson, is expected to start filming in this country this year.
