YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT
If you're planning on a guilt-free night with your good friend Mr Potato Chip, this is not for you. Unless the idea of watching others suffer through spinach salads while you relax with your treats is satisfying.

ONE TRUE THING
Herald rating: * * *
Renee Zellweger plays a tough New Yorker whose mother (Meryl Streep) is dying. After her father (William Hurt) pressures her into quitting her job and her relationship to be with her mother, she discovers there's a lot she didn't know about her parents. (1998)

SPIES LIKE US
Herald rating: * * *
The Cold War was such an excellent setting for comedies. Here Chevy Chase and Dan Aykroyd play government employees who think they've been recruited as US spies, only to discover that they are actually decoys for the real thing. Good comedy, but it starts to fizzle around halfway. John Landis directs. (1985)

DOUBLE JEOPARDY
Herald rating: * * *
A good old-fashioned thriller which looks to exploit that loop in US law which says you can't be tried for the same crime twice. Ashley Judd plays Libby, a woman framed and convicted of the murder of her husband. Six years later Libby is paroled and she sets out to find her son and the truth behind the murder. Standing between her and her quest is her parole officer, played by Tommy Lee Jones. (1999)

NETBALL: NEW ZEALAND V AUSTRALIA
Even for non-netball fans this is compelling viewing: one of the great grudge matches in sport where talent and egos collide. The Silver Ferns, under canny coach Ruth Aitken, should have the edge with sharpshooter Irene van Dyk up front. The second test is live on TV One on Tuesday at 10pm.

TRI-NATIONS: NEW ZEALAND V SOUTH AFRICA
The Springboks have a lot of their classier players out injured but no one expected the thumping they got last week from the Wallabies. The South Africans normally save their best performances for the All Blacks but it's hard to see them troubling our top XV.
