But these previously unseen "out-takes" from the wedding album of Prince Charles and Princess Diana have a special charm all of their own.
They are from a set of 12 taken by PatrickLichfield at the Buckingham Palace reception on July 29, 1981, which are to be sold at an auction in America next month.
We see Diana, 20, with her youngest bridesmaid Clementine Hasbro, five, who was her favourite pupil at the Young England kindergarten in Pimlico where she taught before getting married.

The photos have been put up for sale by an anonymous assistant to Lord Lichfield who said he gave her the prints as a thank you. Bobby Livingston, of RR Auction of Boston, said they could fetch more than US$20,000, although the official estimate is $1,000 to $2,000.
