KEY POINTS:
A British cyclist who is pedalling around the world has reached New Zealand, reports the BBC.
Mark Beaumont, 25, is attempting to beat the world record and set off from Paris in August.
He has cycled through Europe, South East Asia and Australia and he is now in the South Island.
Beaumont started his New Zealand leg in Dunedin and has already made it through Christchurch.
According to his website, he found Otago: "Overcast, hilly but dry today. Finding it very cold - only have summer sleeping bag and would probably freeze if camping!"
In Christchurch he was put up for the night by locals and is now heading to Picton.
Beaumont is collecting donations for Community Action Nepal and children's charity Chicks among others.
His progress can be tracked here.
