The Rolling Stones were the top-earning musical act in the United States last year, bringing in US$168 million ($248 million) in sales of concert tickets and CDs.
Irish rockers U2 were second with a total of US$150 million ($221.5 million), followed by country star Kenny Chesney with US$110 million ($162.5 million).
Forbes magazine reported the list was dominated by successful touring acts, underlining the high prices that bands with older fans were able to charge for concert tickets.
