KEY POINTS:
Rock Star Supernova, the band created following a reality television series in the United States this year, will play in New Zealand next year.
The band, which includes featuring Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, former Guns N'Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke and Canadian singer Lukas Rossi, will play in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Rossi earned his place in the band following the television series Rock Star: Supernova.
The band was originally to be called Supernova but changed its name to Rock Star Supernova following a battle with a relatively unknown Los Angeles punk band Supernova.
Rock Star Supernova's fourth high-profile member, former Metallica bassist Jason Newstead, will not tour after being injured while trying to catch a 40kg bass head which fell from atop his amplifier. The band is searching for a replacement for the tour.
Australian Toby Rand, who came close to winning the Supernova competition, will be the support act for Rock Star Supernova with his five-piece band Juke Kartel.
The New Zealand shows will be at Westpac Centre in Christchurch on March 21, TSB Arena in Wellington on March 23 and Auckland's Vector Arena on March 24. Tickets go on sale on November 13.
Rock Star: Supernova had an average of 251,000 viewers for its 11 episodes on New Zealand television earlier this year.
