She may have been branded Robbie's "London Lover" but 26-year-old New Zealander Charlotte Austin is just a typical kiwi girl, according to her mother Jill Blunden.
Mrs Blunden spoke to nzherald.co.nz today to set the record straight and defend her daughter's actions.
"Charlotte is a very, very private person. She's not one of these kiss-and-tell girl," her mother said.
Austin's name hit headlines this week after British tabloid, the Sunday Mirror, printed Charlotte's exclusive story "My Lover Robbie".
"Someone leaked Charlotte's name and number to the paper," Mrs Blunden said. "They were quite blunt about it and said if Charlotte didn't talk to them they would make their own story up."
After failed attempts to contact Williams, Austin decided to share her side of the story "about how lovely he really is".
Austin was extremely distressed by the situation, her mother said, but was coping with it and starting to "sound a bit more chipper" when she spoke to Mrs Blunden this morning.
Austin was working at the posh Conrad Hotel in London's Chelsea district when she met the superstar singer. Her mother said she has since left the hotel and is now managing another establishment in London.
Despite the media storm surrounding Austin, she has no plans to return to New Zealand, Mrs Blunden said.
"She's got an extended work visa and she's still got four or five years left so I don't think she'll be back for a while."
Austin, who lived in Melbourne for four years before heading to London last year, had a typical kiwi upbringing, her mother said. She grew up on a 10 acre block in Canterbury and went to Christchurch Girls' High School.
