The judges were riveted by the top entry in the inaugural Rotorua wearable creations 'n colour awards and so was the dress itself.
The creation by the ITW Packaging Systems team was an ornate dress and cloak.
Designers Corrine Dixon and John Crookes had collaborated for many hours of weaving, riveting, drilling and welding more than 500m of green polyester and black polypropylene straps to create the dramatic work.
The best entry in the youth section of the awards was a maternity-theme creation called Mother-Funk, made by one of three teams from the Rotorua School for Young Parents.
