We chose this place because we had previously stopped in here for takeout coffee. We liked the look of the place and made a note to return to try the food.
Parking was right outside. And there is always the supermarket carpark just over the road if things get really busy.
We walked in and immediately thought there isn't a lot of room, but there is a cosy, welcoming vibe.
The most unusual thing on the menu was the smoked eel scrambled eggs with bacon and wilted spinach on sourdough toast ($15.50).
We ordered the French toast with creamed marsala field mushrooms, bacon, spinach and roasted vine tomatoes ($17.50) and buttermilk orange-scented pancakes with mixed berry compote, vanilla bean syrup and mascarpone with bacon ($15.50). Both were generous, tasty and kept us satisfied until much later in the day.
The service was great. Friendly and efficient.
The coffee was great. Their takeout is good too.
We recommend if you come here fill up at Fuze before taking a stroll on the coastal boardwalk which has terrific views across to the harbour bridge.
Overall we thought Te Atatu is lucky to have this little gem. Great staff and service, and well-presented, great-tasting food.
We'll be back.
