It is meant to be the happiest day of your life, but as these stories prove, a lot can go wrong on your wedding day.
In a new thread on the anonymous sharing app Whisper, brides and grooms have revealed the shocking ways their weddings have been ruined by their guests.
A sister of the bride who hijacked the reception by revealing she'd eloped the week before, and a mother-in-law who "cried hysterically" when the groom didn't sit next to her were just two of the horror stories shared by exasperated newlyweds.
Taking advantage of the app's anonymity the married couples spared none of the gory details of their nuptial nightmares, with many blaming alcohol for their guests' antics.
One outraged bride said: "not all drunks are happy and funny. get a couple of violent angry perv drunks and your wedding day is ruined. (sic)"
Said one: "My dad wants to bring the woman he recently cheated on my mom with to my wedding.
"I am tempted to ask my father in-law to walk me down the aisle just so my wedding isn't ruined for my mom".
Unsurprisingly bitter in-laws were also to blame for wedding spats.

One bride recalled: "My MIL (mother-in-law) is a drama queen. She ruined our wedding by crying hysterically bc her son didn't sit w her. (sic)"
A similar story reads: "My in-laws hate my guts. They ruined my wedding to see me cry. They don't care they ruined there sons wedding. (sic)."
Some new wives were horrified when their own sister's were prepare to show them up in order to steal the limelight.
One bitter bride said: "My older sister interrupted my wedding reception to announce her and her bf got married secretly the weekend before. I was so p****** off. Good luck to you!"
In a similar tale another said: "My sister staged her engagement to interrupt the vows at my wedding. She was Maid of Honor.
"She even bought her own ring and threatened to kick her boyfriend out if he didn't do it."
Equally annoyed at their sibling another bride said: "My sister can't stand not being the centre of attention. So much that she fainted during my wedding ceremony."
While sisters proved problematic it's hard to imagine that the groom himself would get up to no good, but in some cases this was true.
One not-so-happily married woman said: "I'm trying to forgive and forget that my husband ruined our wedding night by drinking too much and ending up sleeping on the hotel bathroom floor, but 10 years later I'm still struggling..."
One brave confession came from a woman who revealed it was she who had ruined a wedding by confessing her love to the groom.
She explained that it did not end well: "I interrupted my friend's wedding to declare my love I had felt for him in years.
"I told him how I felt for him in front of his whole family, friends and girlfriend. He did not feel the same way for me..."
Other confessions came from those whose weddings were ruined by unfortunate bodily accidents.
One explained: "I had baklava at my wedding reception. I was so excited for it. I didn't know it had pistachios in it. I'm deathly allergic to pistachios. Wedding day ruined."
In another unfortunate tale said: "Last May was my sister wedding. During the wedding pictures I got a bloody nose that ruined my bridesmaids dress, then I sprained my ankle in the 6 inch heels. She is still mad at me for ruining her special day".
