KEY POINTS:
One of the country's biggest uniform makers, Deane Apparel, is taking a leaf out of the national airline's handbook by commissioning a local fashion label to help make its work clothes. A corporate uniform range, created in conjunction with the World label, launches this month and will include merino wrap cardigans, plain and pin-striped cotton shirts as well as tailored wool suits, silk ties and polka dot scarves. Deane says the flamboyance of the World brand was just what it was looking for "to challenge our norms and help create a top-of-the-line range that people would thoroughly enjoy wearing".
Couture made to measure
Fancy owning a piece of couture but found that all the planes to Paris were booked full? Never mind. Local designer Yvonne Bennetti is providing a new made-to-order service where clients select from her range of designs and have the garment made to measure.
After this, Bennetti, who has a Hong Kong-based workroom for just this kind of thing, will ensure the name of the client and the date of the garment's manufacture are sewn into the outfit.
