Supermodel Helena Christensen has donated a new signed Gucci handbag to be raffled at this year's Liggins Couture Car Boot Sale. To be held at Team McMillan BMW in Newmarket on September 15, the sale will feature high-end designer pieces, both vintage and new, donated from the wardrobes of some of Auckland's most stylish women and the racks of top boutiques. Proceeds from the event will go towards medical research at the Liggins Institute, dedicated to researching infant and child health and development. Tickets start at $30, from ligginstrust.org.nz.
And the winners are ...
The Kim Crawford Wines NZ Style Search, held in conjunction with Viva, for the most stylish man and woman is over. Proving that Kiwis do have an innate sense of style and take pride in how they look, the competition - which was judged by Viva editor Amanda Linnell, shoe designer Kathryn Wilson and Steve Dunstan of Huffer - was inundated with 100s of fabulous entries. But there could only be two winners - Grace Wang and Dion Lee Andrew. The pair stood out for their individual style and ability to mix pieces to create a stylish look.
Grace Wang describes her personal style as "grandpa chic". The judges loved her ability to effortlessly mix the old with the new. Grace was photographed on the streets wearing a blazer, cardigan and shirt - all sourced from opshops - teamed with leather shorts from Skylark, a cashmere vest from Max Mara and shoes from a thrift store in Melbourne.
Our most stylish man is Dion Lee Andrew who, when it comes to creating his own style, draws his inspiration from what he sees on the street and in magazines. "I like mixing different bits and pieces, having fun with clothes and trying different things," he says.
