Karen Walker has showcased her newest collection, Salzburg, USA, in New York earlier this week, bringing together two unlikely influences: The Sound of Music and Bob Dylan. The result is a collection with a 1960s folk feel - shrunken velvet jackets, corduroy skirts, flannel coats, sheepskin vests, wool fringing and Walker's take on the Von Trapp children's curtain playclothes.

Mind your mouth
Chemists are warning lipgloss can lull women into a false sense of sun security. They're advising using a lip balm with SPF30 beneath glosses or a gloss with inbuilt block, to reduce the risk of damage, including skin cancers. A spokeswoman for the Care Chemist community pharmacy group, Tania Adams, says: "Many women assume lip gloss will create enough of a barrier, however... the ultra-shine of the glosses creates a magnifying effect, which attracts the sun." If you are troubled by a change of colour on the lip or persistent peeling or flaking, get it checked out by a GP or dermatologist. At Viva we've found more SPF30 lip balms than lipsticks or glosses; a lower sun protection factor is more usual, especially if you're looking for colour as well as coating. Try Hissyfit's tinted version, which comes in five shades so you can shine in the sun.
