Brad Renfro, who starred at the age of 12 alongside Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon in The Client, has been charged with attempting to buy heroin in Los Angeles.
The man said to be the seller was an undercover police officer. Renfro, 23, is out on bail.
The United States actor has convictions for possessing cocaine and marijuana and of attempting to steal a yacht.
