We all had high expectations of our first kiss - but the reality is usually a far cry from the romantic scene we envisaged.
In a new thread on Reddit people have revealed what happened when they first puckered-up in stories that are both heartwarming and cringe-inducing.
Redditor cakebaby96 took to the site to ask: "What was your first kiss like?"- with plenty of users dishing out details about their romantic milestone, reported the Daily Mail.
Most users agreed that theirs was mostly awkward as they had no idea what they were doing.
One user simply described their first kiss as "awkward" because the woman apparently kept her mouth closed and he kept his open too wide. "I tried to eat her face. We learnt pretty quickly though," he explained.
Other words that were used to describe first kisses ranged from "exciting" and "sweet"' to "wet" and "fishy".
One user recalled that their first smooch was "wet and cold".
"He was the only person I've ever encountered with a cold tongue," she said.
Other answers were just bizarre and memorable for all the wrong reasons, with one person responding: "Tasted like cod from the fish and chip shop."
But there were some kisses that were as sweet as most people hoped they would be, with some lucky users sharing romantic tales.
"It was like a Disney kiss. The whole world seemed to swirl, and melt away, and it was just me and him, and our lips. It was wonderful," one person said.
Another wrote: "Flash back to fifth grade, I had my girlfriend and it was the last day of school. We both decided we wanted to have our first kiss in the library. We meet after class, right by the water fountain, and gave each other a small peck on the lips. It's probably one of the cutest memories I have."
Some people barely remembered their first kiss as they were under the influence of alcohol at the time.
One admitted: that she was so drunk that she passed out 10 minutes after her first-ever smooch.
"Reeking of tobacco and wine, but still pleasurable," another added.
