Born in New Zealand but currently based in London, makeup artist Katherine Gould's own sartorial style could best be described as rockabilly. Unsurprisingly, makeup plays a big part in her look - she's hardly ever seen without her signature red lipstick, and dyes her blond hair "as often as my hairdresser will let me".
Gould's work has appeared in various magazines including Metro and No, as well as in a recent campaign for Meadowlark - a jewellery label she's obsessed with. She tells us more about her unique style.
What was the last item of clothing you bought?
A pink polo shirt from a vintage clothing store.
What's your biggest indulgence/guilty pleasure?
I have way too many vices - my life may be short but at least I had fun.
Who or what inspires you?
It sounds cheesy, but my family and friends. If you're surrounded by people who care for you, then that will give you all the inspiration and confidence you need.
Your favourite accessory?
My Meadowlark skull ring. These guys make the best jewellery. I'm obsessed.
Best fashion bargain?
A pair of YSL 6-inch stilettos I found for 100 quid at a vintage sale in London - they're killer and make men swoon.
Who does the best shoes?
Natacha Marro for heels - they are incredibly well made and so, so high. She also does a bespoke range. I really want a pair of her summer Oxford blue and white shoes, they are amazing. For flats, Chuck Taylors and Vans without a doubt.
What do you really want this coming season?
A black Vivienne Westwood Yasmin Bag.
Your favourite shop?
In Auckland, I like Miss Illicit.
Your favourite shop elsewhere?
Chelsea Rebelle, based in Los Angeles.
Your best beauty tip?
Always clean your face before you go to bed.
What is your beauty routine?
I always make sure my nails are done and get my hair dyed as often as my hairdresser will let me. I use M.A.C cleanse-off oil as a facewash and Studio Moisture Fix Lotion as moisturiser. Occasionally I'll wear Creme de la Mer as a night cream when I've totally ruined myself.
How do you define the word "fashionable", what does it mean to you?
Fashionable means someone who's comfortable in their own skin and confident in their own sense of style.
Is there anything you'd never wear?
Crocs (shudder).
What do you wear to work?
Always black.
What is the biggest fashion/beauty/hair mistake you have ever made?
Trying to dye my hair from black to blond myself. Results were yellow and ginger - not nice.
Dress to impress whom?
Make yourself happy and others will follow.
What is your most cherished item?
Right now, my Betsey Johnson clutch with dice clasps. I can't leave it alone.
Personal style quirk?
Red lipstick at all times.
If money were no option?
Then my life would be much easier.
Best city for fashion shopping in the world?
New York or Los Angeles - I always come away totally broke.
Favourite T-shirt slogan/best T-shirt slogan you ever saw?
I'm always a fan of the classic "I'm with stupid".
Best music for getting dressed by?
80s all the way. It takes me at least twice the time because I'm too busy singing and teasing my hair to look like Nikki Sixx.
