An article last week about the have-nots and the have-yachts profiled aspiring young Auckland socialites. Meanwhile, the real rich kids of Auckland were downing Gran Patron tequila at a "bring your heli" party on Great Mercury Island off the east coast of the Coromandel Peninsula. The island is co-owned by Sir Michael Fay and David Richwhite. The party was hosted by Richwhite's kids: Topher, a bassist in a London rock band, and Louisa, a jewellery designer.
Helicopters ferried the scions of rich listers and friends, including Wyborn twins Sam and Antony, and Sophie Heatley, Craig's daughter, who is a model and aerobatics pilot. It was all frivolity until the tequila ran dry. A chopper was scrambled to ferry more.
