R&B hitmaker Charles Smith dies

Charles Smith, the lead guitarist and co-founder of R&B group Kool and the Gang, has died at 57 after a prolonged illness.

Smith wrote some of the band's biggest hits - including Joanna and Take My Heart - and introduced elements of jazz and funk.
