"I got here a bit late for a seat," said Dad.
"Did you take any photos?" I checked to see if he had his camera bag with him.
"Ah, I forgot to bring it." He gave me a hug. "Was it fun? Did you enjoy it?"
"No," I said.
Dad looked surprised.
"I was a toy soldier," I explained, "but I really wanted to be a rag doll and I sort of got carried away and - " I kicked at the stones as we crunched over the gravel to the car park. "- I forgot my part," I added in a small voice.
"I thought you were a great toy soldier," Dad said cheerfully.
"Did you?" I tried to see his face, but it was too dark. "Could you tell which one was me?" I asked.
"We-ell..." he began.
"You couldn't tell," I said with relief.
